NewView 2024 Summit

Insights into the emerging venture secondaries market featuring conversations with NewView limited partners, company leaders, and author Sebastian Mallaby

Much has changed in the venture secondary landscape since our inaugural Summit just 18 months ago. Liquidity challenges and extended exit timelines continue to mobilize interest among investors, driving a notable increase in activity.

At NewView, we believe there is more at play than just cyclical factors—a theory we explored in-depth at our second Summit for our limited partners. The day began with a keynote address by Ravi Viswanathan on the state of the market and our firm’s perspective on what the future holds. This was followed by a panel discussion on the evolution of the venture secondaries landscape moderated by Will Dornbrook (Cliffwater), featuring NewView investors Ankit Sud and Christina Fa with Holcombe Green (Lazard).

NewView’s Jamie Quinn then moderated a panel with Joseph Marks (Capital Dynamics), and Bruno Annicq (Wellhub) on venture secondaries as solutions. This was followed by a discussion on value creation in venture secondaries moderated by Shai Bernstein from Harvard Business School, with NewView partner Tim Connor, Dimitri Dadiomov (Modern Treasury), and Subbu Iyer (Aerospike).

The morning session closed with a conversation on the role of venture secondaries in a LP portfolio moderated by NewView partner Pradeep Ramamurthy, featuring Jorge Rossello (Portfolio Advisors) and Florian Kamps (Spheres).

Lunch at The Whitby was accompanied by a conversation with Sebastian Mallaby, the author of The Power Law. Mallaby shared his perspectives on how the power law catalyzed the development of the venture secondaries market, and what the future might hold for the asset class.
